Tattoo Aftercare

Upon Getting Tattooed

- If we applied a second skin-type film:
If you're able to keep it on, leave it for 3–4 days. Sometimes that’s not possible, as the film may peel off — if the tattoo starts showing outside the film, remove it gently in the shower.
If the film stays in place, it's normal for a bubble of plasma and ink to form underneath. If possible, try to drain the liquid through a wrinkle in the film. If you can't, don’t worry — the liquid won’t harm your tattoo.
When it stays in place, this film offers many benefits: it tricks your body into thinking you have a scab, which helps you heal faster from the inside out. Plus, it's super convenient — you don’t need to do any aftercare during the most sensitive stage of healing.
At the end of this period, or if the film comes off on its own, gently remove it in the shower and follow the instructions below.

If we used cling wrap:
1–2 hours after the end of your session, thoroughly wash your hands, remove the film, and follow the instructions below.

Aftercare Instructions

Always wash your hands before touching the tattoo. Wash the tattoo with warm water and neutral soap. I recommend using a pharmacy-grade soap or one formulated for sensitive skin. Gently dry the area with a paper towel, don’t rub, just let the paper absorb the water.

Apply a tattoo-specific healing cream in a thin, transparent layer. A small pod is enough to cover a palm-sized tattoo!

It's normal for the tattoo to expel some plasma and excess ink. You should wash and treat it twice a day to keep it clean and protected from elements like dust and dirt. Swelling, redness, and itching are also completely normal during healing.

Important:
Do not submerge the tattoo while it’s healing, and avoid swimming pools, the beach, gyms, and saunas.

Once the tattoo has completely scabbed and peeled off, you can return to using your regular soap on that area, along with a standard moisturiser.

Apply cream whenever the tattoo feels dry or itchy, keeping it hydrated is key!

And never forget: ALWAYS use sun protection to keep your tattoo vibrant and beautiful for years to come.

Et voilà! You're ready for your next one! 💖

F.A.Q.

Where do you tattoo?

From 2018 to October 2024, I worked in Lisbon, Portugal. Now I’m based in Perth, Australia!
I currently tattoo at Uncrowned Ink in Scarborough, Western Australia.

Do you only do colour tattoos?
Nope! I also tattoo in black, it’s just not my preference because I’m truly passionate about colours. 🌈

Is there anything I shouldn’t eat or drink?
Before your tattoo session, avoid alcohol, it thins the blood and can affect the process. It's great to stay hydrated and eat healthy beforehand, but I don't believe there's a specific food you must avoid.
After your tattoo, you’re free to enjoy a drink again!

Do colour tattoos age faster than black tattoos?
That’s a myth! All tattoos, whether colour or black, should be cared for and protected from the sun equally. A well-done tattoo by an experienced and specialized artist will last longer, but keep in mind, all tattoos age over time because they live in a living organ (your skin!).

Can I go to the gym after getting a tattoo?
Avoid the gym during the first week. Stay away from hot and humid environments, swimming pools, the sea, or any places where bacteria can thrive, it’s all about giving your tattoo the safest healing environment possible.

How can I book an appointment?
The easiest and quickest way to book your appointment is to fill this form . I'll get back you you shortly with a quote and availability. You can also send me a direct message on Instagram or Facebook Messenger.

Do you accept walk-ins?

Yes, I do. But, if possible, always send me a message in advance to make sure I'm available that day. I only book one client per day so, unless I've got a full day booked in, I'll probably still have time for smaller walk-ins.

What’s your price range?
I usually charge per piece, depending on the size, detail, and placement.
As of May 2025, my current rates are:
- $150 per hour;
- $1000 for a full-day session.

Feel free to reach out with your idea, and I’ll happily give you a personalised quote!

Do you do custom designs? Can I bring my own?

I always prefer to create custom designs, it allows me to tailor the artwork to your idea and ensure it will look great and age beautifully on your skin.
Not every design is tattooable or suitable for long-term wear. By designing something specifically for you, I can make sure it’s both adorable and long-lasting! 💖

How far in advance should I book?

As of now, I recommend booking at least one month before your desired tattoo date to secure your spot.
If you’re aiming for a Saturday, it’s best to get in touch even earlier, as Saturdays tend to be the most popular days.

Do you tattoo darker skin tones?Absolutely! Everyone deserves their bit of rainbow. It’s just a matter of adjusting the colours to best suit your skin complexion and make your tattoo pop beautifully.

Can I bring a friend to my appointment?

I totally understand feeling anxious, especially if it’s your first tattoo! I actually encourage you to bring a friend for support. Just one person though, as space at my workstation can get a bit tight.

Do you offer touch-ups?

Yes, I offer a free touch-up for every tattoo I do, as long as it’s needed and you followed the aftercare instructions properly, healing is a team effort between you and me.

Honestly, in my 7 years of experience, I’ve only needed to do touch-ups fewer than five times. When a tattoo is done well and cared for correctly, a touch-up usually isn’t necessary.

Does it hurt?

I’m never gonna lie, yes, it does hurt. But it’s surprisingly manageable! Some placements are more sensitive than others, so if you’re unsure whether your chosen spot might be a tough one, let’s have a chat and figure out the best placement for you.

What should I wear to my appointment?Definitely avoid wearing white or your brand-new favourite clothes, ink might spill and could ruin them.
Wear something comfortable, loose-fitting, and that makes the area being tattooed easily accessible. That way, you’ll stay comfy and we can work smoothly!
